Lawyers live to expand their empire of laws into ever new and more invasive nooks and crannies. And with every expansion we the people who are not lawyers and our voluntary and private institutions and communities are diminished. The Empire of Law is a never ending quest to subordinate all of society to state audit and control.
It is the antithesis, the negation of the Gospel which God gave to free us from oppressive law.
