Imagine it's 1775 and the Redcoat SWAT team arrives

I was thinking about the 50,000 paramilitary assaults perpetrated by our police every year.  You know, the standard 3am knock at the door - no wait, that was Nazis and Commies that knocked, the 3am smash the door down as a dozen screaming black clad men shoot all the dogs and toss grenades into dark corners, killing anyone who has the temerity to be confused because they've just been awakened by what seems like a horrific, murderous home invasion threatening their family (as an aside I wonder what the ratio of state sponsored home invasions is to so called 'criminal' home invasions?  Do our fearless heroes invade homes ten times more than common criminals do?  Five?  Twenty? Hmmm).

What do you think the Founding Fathers would have made of this modern chock full of compassion home invasion 'innovation'?  The proportionate number of home invasions for the 3 million Americans back then would have been 500.  500 mobs of screaming cursing lobsterbacks smashing doors down in the middle of the night, slaughtering the barking dogs, grenadiers tossing grenades.  But correct me if I'm wrong but the English Army that was so oppressive didn't do that. Indeed only Boston was occupied by regulars and while it was true that they required the locals to provide quarters for their troops I presume the transaction was done in broad daylight by an officer who kocked on the homeowner's door and read him an edict or something.  I'm sure they didn't bayonet his dogs or inadvertently murder his sleeping baby with a grenade because I think we would have heard of that type of obscene oppression.

So we rebelled against an 'oppressive' state that was far more respectful of persons, pets and property than today's 'heroes' are.  I think we fucked up bailing on England.  Their law enforcement seems to have at least retained basic human decency.  Our boys?  Baboons - dog slaughtering, grenade tossing baboons.

I'm so proud to be an American.
