I wonder: in 1775 did the Redcoat SWAT teams get to steal people's houses?

I did a hypothetical about whether or not the British Army had Swat teams during our revolution here.  But another thought just occurred to me:  perhaps there are so many violent state assaults on Americans (50,000 per year in their homes alone. Which excludes all the people beaten upon the streets or otherwise outside their homes) has something to do with civil forfeiture laws.  Almost all of the raids are done in pursuit of contraband - usually drugs but the Fish and Wildlife service smashes into homes searching for illegal squirrel skins and such.  And if the budding Sgt. Rocks can find contraband then they get to steal, I mean sieze the house it was found in and keep all the jack for themselves.  If you behave like a decent human being (or a Nazi agent) and knock, the evidence might get flushed or otherwise disappear and that would be a bad thing because you couldn't steal, I mean seize anyone's property without meaningful due process of law. And they shoot the dogs because well, the homeowner is going to homeless and he can't take care of the dog so they're going to go to the pound anyway so why not a little salutary target practice?  You know to keep the storm trooper skills up to snuff.
