I'd buy the argument that replacing our President with a parliamentary system would be freeing except that they keep citing the UK

Which is both much poorer and much less free than we are while federal Australia, Canada and the US are the richest and freest "big" countries in the world.

Maybe we should spend our tine becoming more federal instead.  There's a thought: let's go back to the governance model that first made us the richest by overtaking....Great Britain's lauded parliamentary system.
