Only their divisions a count. Only their gravity holds. Dumbasses to the right of me dumbasses to the left. There are Sunnis, Shiite-Alawites and Kurds. To the north are Turks, to the South Jews. No moderate Sunnis. At least none who fight and die for the apostate label.
This is why we can't have nice things in the middle east: we play western category pretend and play it badly. But whaddya expect from a bipartisan bunch if DC dumbasses?
