You remember Kitty Genovese the young woman who was murdered in Queens and despite calling for help no one did anything? I'm sure you do if you're my age because it was written up in all sorts of textbooks that were shoved down our throats back in the 70 and 80s to prove all sorts of things. At the time it was strange that the white shoe NYT had scooped the Post and Daily News on such an explosive story. The reason why ? The story that the NYT told wasn't true.
