Too bad Bloomberg didn't have the intellectual honesty to ask this about Barack Obama

Francis Wilkinson sniffs that Tim Scott, black Republican Senator from South Carolina is not getting a serious challenge from the right wing of the party because he's black, rather than because he's on the....right wing of the party.  She explains that the underlying reason that he's not being challenged and has the job in the first place is Republican guilt over racism.  Scott was appointed by Nicky Haley who is of South Asian descent.  Perhaps she felt guilty because some of her Gujarati or Maharashtran ancestors were naughty to East African traders in Mumbai. After all, they had elephants.

Wilkinson also points out that Mr. Scott hasn't been in the Senate long and as far as she, apparently a leftist, is concerned isn't very 'accomplished'.

In effect, South Carolina Republicans treat Scott like the national party previously treated the ham-handed presidential candidate Herman Cain and the party's not-quite-competent chairman during Obama's first term, Michael Steele: They are members of an endangered political species for whom the bar is effectively lowered.

In other words, Ms. Wilkinson is upset that Republicans are putting forward candidates that are electable  and conservative. Candidates that could challenge the notion that her very racist Democrat party is the only party for black people.  If that were ever not to be true, the Dems would collapse electorally.  Perhaps that's why Ms. Wilkinson and Bloomberg treated one Barack Obama with kid gloves when he contended for the most difficult executive job in the world with absolutely no, none, nunca, nada, nyet executive experience.  And how Mr. Obama has been repeatedly characterized as brilliant despite never sharing a single transcript - which I'm sure Ms. Wilkinson is OK with, Obama being a liberal and all.  And did she tell you that he's whip smart?

One other thing:  I'm a Republican from the South and my family was back when it was unfashionable.  One reason we were Republicans was because were were libertarian and anti-communist.  The other reason was that we disliked the institutionalized racism and accompanying corrption that characterized the Democrats.  It is a vile and obscene slur for Democrat (I am sure the New York journalist Wilkinson is at least that left wing) to smear Republicans as 'guilty' for southern racism when she full well knows that her Prog ancestors in the north kissed Southern Democrat ass to ensure that it stayed on their side so they could keep power.  Which was far more important than helping southern blacks.  Until integration became fait accompli and then the Yankee Doodle Donkeys turned on their erstwhile 'good friends' with Stalinist efficuency.

But sweet Francis is no doubt a classic northeastern bien pensant who has all the right opinions and very little understanding of the topic other than what is politically correct to say.  That's how sneering ignorance works.
