The Global Warming Movement is religion masquerading as science

The second rate 'science' of climatology has never been so popular or profitable. The mediocrities who run it can't believe their luck to stumble on to the most popular form of anti-human idolatry in world history - and the people that count are buying it!  Charles Ponzi never had it so good.  So when one of their number dissents from the orthodoxy, they respond like the most retrograde cult or crime family:  bitter, brutal denunciation, shunning, threats, withdrawal of custom, you name it.  This most recently happened to a Swedish scientist:

On May 8, Lennart Bengtsson, a Swedish climate scientist and meteorologist, joined the advisory council of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, a group that questions the reliability of climate change and the costs of policies taken to address it. While Bengtsson maintains he'd always been a skeptic as any scientist ought to be, the foundation and climate-change skeptics proudly announced it as a defection from the scientific consensus.

Less than a week later, he says he's been forced to resign from the group. The abuse he's received from the climate-science community has made it impossible to carry on his academic work and made him fear for his own safety. A once-peaceful community, he says in his resignation letter, now reminds him of McCarthyism.

"I had not expect[ed] such an enormous world-wide pressure put at me from a community that I have been close to all my active life," he wrote in his resignation. "Colleagues are withdrawing their support, other colleagues are withdrawing from joint authorship."

London's Daily Mail reports that Bengtsson "was also abused on science blogs, with one describing the people who condemned him as 'respectable' and that his actions amounted to 'silliness.' Another described him as a 'crybaby.' "

Of course the entire 'progressive' project is idolatry focused on the power of the glorious state - the nation, nay the world's savior from all of these scurrying, independent humans.  Big science has become part of this oppressive project - pursuing state power and wealth rather than truth.

The only problem is that hard scientists are trapped by hard facts. They can't manipulate and lie about what is happening very long before people notice the manipulation.  And with their predictions coming a cropper again and again and again and with no warming for over seventeen years, and most importantly with no rational scheme to stop what they characterize as an existential threat, they find that they've driven their magic money bus over a cliff. And as it falls, falls, falls to its inevitable denouement, they're panicking.
