The battle for slots at prestige colleges is becoming insane. Which makes sense because as we shift from a performance oriented economy to a static state run status economy, the battle shifts from cost, quality, responsiveness to acquiring positional credentials that entitle their bearer to extract economic rents from others. Which leads to crazed battles for access to the right credentials: not skills or education mind you, but the right scraps of paper.
It's all so progressive. Just ask the Mings.
