Don Boudreaux recommends that if the government is going to set minimum wages, it should set all other prices as well. While I think this is a clever riposte, I think it's a lousy tactic (silly economist). The real way to fight this recurring lunacy is to require that minimum wages be commensurate with cost of living in a given area. That way if we had a $10 minimum for America at large (Cost of living index: 100) then Manhattan would have a $20 minimum while Houston would have a $9 minimum.
Get that accepted as a standard and watch the so called ‘compassionate ones’ in big blue cities panic. We’ll never have to worry about minimum wage shenanigans again.
