John Podhoretz, despite his U of C lineage, speaks common sense: this too shall pass. I agree with him: the genius of our founders (the first time in history that this genius was exhibited, btw) was that they placed their ultimate faith in the common sense of the common man.
And taken as a whole the common men (and women) of the United States have exhibited uncommon common sense. Trust the people, Podhoretz and Jefferson and Washington and Madison and (even) Hamilton said. And they were right.
