New Princeton Study shows elite colleges biased against poor kids?

Princeton sociologists Esphinshade and Radford recently completed a ground breaking study of admissions 'diversity' at 8 top private institutions.  See a full summary here.

Unsurprisingly, they found that blacks and hispanics with identical credentials were vastly more likely to be admitted than whites.  They also found Asians were massively discriminated against.  Even more interestingly, they found that working class and poor whites were three times LESS likely to be offered admission than wealthier whites.  Finally,  they found that applicants with 'politically incorrect' high school activities such as ROTC or FFA were 60 to 65 percent less likely to be admitted all other things being equal and that this negative bias increased the more successful the student was.

Oh, and they point out that the Universities routinely lie through their teeth about all of this.

When taken with the recent finding that Universities have raised tuition five-fold in real terms since 1982 I think only one conclusion can be made:  Our elite universities are racist, money grubbing liars.  Once again an institution that takes our money and struts around proclaiming their superior morality has been demonstrated to be an exploitative fraud.

Just about sums up where we stand as a country, doesn't it?

Readers have pointed out that the link above seems to be broken.  Here's a NYT column by Ross Douthat on the same topic.
