Kuttner does the former but not the latter. His commentary on the US and Europe emphasizes governmental process (Europe can't make decisions, Republicans are big meanies) when it is what the state and private entities are doing that is driving change. Social democracy has turned out to be a dead end. But one with hundreds of millions of clients invested in its malign perpetuation. And Robert Kuttner can't see this because it would mean repudiating everything he has stood for all his life.
So we get this twaddle about climate change and process. No wonder we're in such bad shape.
