As an aside: one of the reasons that this statist chaos is unlikely to last as long as FDR's reign of error is that we have so many more sources of data and outlets for information. The establishment, terrified of the twin specters of Nazism and Stalinism rallied around FDR as their best hope to keep things from spinning out of control. We now know better. I hope.
