Just call this the Rachel Carson curve

Rachel Carson wrote 'Silent Spring' a hysterical (and hysterically dishonest) broadside against DDT that led to its worldwide ban just as its use had all but eradicated Malaria.  Unsurprisingly, Malaria made a huge comeback and has killed over 50 million people post Rachel.  The types of DDT uses that could have eliminated those deaths would have had virtually no impact on the environment.  Ms. Carson was told this many times and chose to remain silent unto death.  Therefore I propose that the catastrophic relationship between disease and IQ be named The Rachel Carson Memorial Curve for the person most responsible for it.  Hat tip Tyler Cowen.
