Creative destruction: It never comes when or where you expect it.

That's what makes it so creative.  And destructive.  Facebook, by increasing the reach of authentic friendships and enabling 'virtuous' referral marketing, is not only changing how we communicate but also how we learn and how we buy.  Large, industrial age information utilities (schools, media giants) are starting to look more and more like dinosaurs.  And Facebook?  Well Facebook just might be that asteroid that everyone's talking about........'Boom'.
