Don't fix the markets and you won't have a boom. Don't have a boom, then you won't have a bust.

States with free markets in land like TX and Iowa haven't suffered the housing bust because they never had the housing boom   They also have much lower prices in general.  By contrast states with lots of land use regulation like NV, CA, AZ, FL have wildly destructive boom and bust cycles.  Over and over and over again.  Perhaps they'll catch a clue this time and rethink the policies that provoke these cycles?  Naw, who'm I kidding?  Hattip Carpe Diem
