Tax exempt organizations spend the money they get from tax exemptions to get the government to give them our....taxes.

Why are Tax exempt organizations tax exempt?  It's a big question.  Certainly 'service providers' like Universities and Hospitals shouldn't be - they are in no, way shape or form 'charities', rather they are massive corporations with multi billion dollar budgets and leaders who make millions.  And pace Don Surber, neither should all of the Washington 'pressure' groups from the NRDC to the NRA.  Far too much of our economy shelters under privileged tax status, making them biased towards higher taxes.

After all, many of the the institutions that have done the most for normal people have always paid taxes, so it isn't that the not for profits contributions are uniquely 'valuable'.

I'm all for diversity so long as everyone plays by the same rules.
