Even during the Great Recession the elderly benefitted and children suffered

Social 'Democracies' have a notorious bias in favor of the politically powerful.  So much so that groups that one would presume would be sympathetic to the plight of poor children routinely use the political system to loot them.  I assume this is because their lucre has been laundered through the pristine morality of the modern 'Envy' State and now is presented as 'social justice', or 'social solidarity', or 'getting the rich' rather than what it really is:  A big strong man (grandpa) walking up to children (his grand kids) and threatening to punish them if they don't give up their lunch money.  Among progressives this is called 'social justice'.  Us simpleton, tea bagging, child hating right-wingers lacking, PhD's in the accredited Envy and Resentment specialties simply call a 'crime'.

What is shocking is how the great recession has accelerated the pace of the kinderloot across most of the rich economies in the world.  But that makes sense: recessions justify more state action and more state action means more action in favor of those largely older people who control who runs the state. This chart presents the US as becoming only mildly more biased in favor of powerful oldsters but that's only because President's Keystone Social Justice and Social Solidarity Initiative Destined to Place Him In the Pantheon of Liberal Heros and Get Him a Washington Monument Like Roosevelt Got to Go Along With His Well Deserved Peace Prize hasn't kicked in yet.  Kicked in the young's teeth, that is.  Hey but it's all completely fair: we diddle our kids, they diddle their kids and so on down the line.  It's all so progressive.
