I was watching a local TV show today, KSDK Channel 5 in St. Louis. They showed the tragic outcomes of the Japanese earthquake and Tsunami and then immediately cut to a story about how 'massive' budget cuts at the 'National Weather Service' (actually the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) were 'endangering' America's ability to predict such events. The reporter breathlessly related that $137 Million or "30 percent" of the agency's budget was being cut by the Republican House and according to the NOAA union, such deep cuts were certain to threaten people's safety.
The percentage of NOAA's $5.5 Billion dollar budget being cut? Less than 3%.
We are going to see a lot more of this kind of stupid and dishonest reporting from our so called 'news media' as they shamelessly shill for their union friends. Pathetic, isn't it?
