The reality is that we got into this mess because the Republicans behaved so badly during the Bush years. That destroyed the brand of the only source for more limited government in the nation. I think the Democrats are atrocious but it was the Republican establishment that put them in a position to be so destructive. If Republicans win and don't radically change, then I agree with Tom Smith:
“One small point I would add is that if it weren’t for the historically, epically awful job of the GOP establishment in Congress during the W years, we would not be in the position we are now, where we have every right to be concerned about the fate of our constitutional order, such as it is.”
