There is no national standard

One of the arguments for a Uber Powerful Federal Superstate is that a Super Country needs a Super State to establish national standards that are Super too.  Yet the reality is that the Federal Super State is really a Stupor State - all of the centralization and massive spending serves to increase the state's power but it doesn't improve the state's effectiveness.  We saw that with the incredibly bloated, overfunded and incompetent multi billion dollar Healthcare.gov fiasco (and they outsourced the whole thing!), with the porn and whore loving but not President protecting Secret Service and in a dozen other ways, including the strange inability of agency after agency to produce emails that every normal company routinely archives and would be punished by the Stupor State if it could not produce.

But low or more accurately, no standards are the key to the Stupor State's success:  demand exacting standards from everyone else while ensuring that you have no accountability is the best way to amass all the power you can.

So now we see the glorious Stupor State struggling with a tinpot virus called Ebola and it seems that there are no good pre-packaged plans to deal with it despite twenty years of threatened Ebola outbreaks.  Even worse, there isn't a single national standard for responding to Ebola threats or infectious threats in general. Once again the Stupor State has fumbled one job that everyone who's anyone said it had to have:  leadership and control over our response to epidemics. From Instapundit.

THE COUNTRY’S IN THE VERY BEST OF HANDS: U.S. lacks a single standard for Ebola response. “As Thomas Eric Duncan’s family mourns the USA’s first Ebola death in Dallas, one question reverberates over a series of apparent missteps in the case: Who is in charge of the response to Ebola? The answer seems to be — there really isn’t one person or agency. There is not a single national response.”

But don't worry because the Stupor state is busy amassing more power over children's food choices, the nomenclature of Football teams and determining which healthcare procedures are Obama approved and which ones aren't.  Regardless of which party is in 'power' the Stupor State stupidly rolls on.

We are in the very least of hands - people lacking the skills, incentives and commitment to do their jobs but filled with the lust for more power and status which they are very good at fulfilling.

God help us every one.
