Why are teachers increasingly self pitying whiners?

After all, class sizes have fallen in half in the past 30 years and compensation per hour worked averages the same as professional engineers. But unionized, Federalized, tops down bureaucracies are experts in infantilizing adults - turning confident leaders into whiny children.
