Jennifer Rubin observes that Barack Obama continues to be incredibly calm despite an economy slipping back into recession, an international situation getting worse by the day and the looming historic shellacking of the party that he leads. It seems that like Chauncy Gardner of Being There fame this is his default behavior. Many people have mistaken his calm demeanor for sagacity and thoughtfulness when in fact it's the way that a man who has risen to the top for "being there" rather than doing operates.
