Unable to respond or even cope with certain ideas or perspectives, the modern academic seeks to first deligitimize them by accusing their proponent of arguing from a privileged position (the famed 'check your privilege' ad hominem) and then if that doesn't work banning the utterance of the opinion as 'hate speech'.
