Mass produced food and mass produced education: both are bland but only the latter is expensive

Good question:

SO YOU DON’T EXPECT SCHOOL-CAFETERIA FOOD TO BE GOOD, because it’s prepared in mass quantities and the consumers don’t really get a choice. So why would you expect public school education to be any better, since it’s produced under the same conditions? (No, this insight isn’t really original. But thanks to Charlie Martin for the inspiration.)
