Here's why we need more and more state intervention to help the desperate poor

I mean the rubes need help spending the money that they're not spending on food.  It goes without saying that the richer more secure a society gets, the more elaborate its social welfare system must be.  A rich people need so many more 'social services' than a poor people do.  Right?

Alternative theory:  Rich hosts can carry lots more parasites than poor ones can.

Tenured Professor as tick.  Farmer gorged on subsidies as tapeworm.  Inert bureaucrat as inert.....flea - OK, that one doesn't work.  But it just about sums it up, don't you think?
